New Clandestine Grave With at Least Four Bodies Found in Casas Grandes

Following an operation implemented by elements of the District Attorney’s Office of the Northwest Zone, authorities managed to locate a new clandestine grave in the northwest region of the state, where inside the property, security agents recovered the bodies of at least four people.

This was confirmed by the District Attorney of the Northwest Zone, Alejandro Vargas Salas, who shared that as part of the investigations they carry out in the region, they managed to find the whereabouts of a clandestine grave, which was used to deposit at least four bodies of men who have not been able to be identified.

He assured that the agents were collecting evidence, interviews and other investigative mechanisms to be able to locate this grave, which was discovered in the municipality of Casas Grandes, on the road that leads from Casas Grandes to the town known as El Wily, which is located at kilometer 21.5 of that stretch of road.

“Personnel from our Prosecutor’s Office managed to find the clandestine grave. Apparently, the bodies had been hidden inside for a short time. They had been buried for about 20 days and, due to the weather conditions, the bodies were preserved for a little longer. Therefore, it is expected that in the next few hours we will have more genetic information and their identity,” said Prosecutor Alejandro Vargas.

He also commented that the bodies were located in the place, but that all of them were found with several limbs of the body severed, the evidence and all the evidentiary material that they recovered from the place, was concentrated by the elements to be able to continue with the corresponding investigations.

Forensic personnel took charge of recovering all the forensic samples from the scene, in order to obtain any evidence that may facilitate the identity of each of the subjects who were killed. An investigation is underway in order to find the persons responsible for these events.

It is worth mentioning that last October, 11 clandestine graves were located in the municipality of Ascensión, a municipality located one hour away from where this new clandestine grave was found.

In the case of Ascensión, the agents recovered different remains and bodies of at least 12 people, which are still under investigation, the bodies had been in the clandestine grave for more than 6 months.
