At just after 9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, operational forces from the Mixed Operations Base (MOB) received a report of an individual injured by gunfire outside the seafood restaurant known as “El Tiburón de San Carlos,” located on Luis Echeverria Álvarez and Belisario Domínguez streets in the Pueblo Nuevo neighborhood of Ciudad Constitución, Comondú municipality.
Upon arrival, municipal security forces observed that members of the Navy and the Tactical Operations Group (GOT) of the Ministry of Public Security were already on the scene. During an arrest operation, they allegedly shot and wounded Luis Alberto Muñoz Robles, alias “El Moto Ratón,” 37, in the leg. He is the armed wing of Abraham Cervantes Escareaga, alias “El Babay,” leader of the La Mayiza faction of the Sinaloa Cartel.
“El Moto Ratón was one of the main targets, a priority target for the State Security Roundtable; one of the generators of violence in the municipalities of Comondú, the leader of the operational structure for El Babay, he moved people and weapons for the Cartel,” said the source from the State Attorney General’s Office (PGJE).
At the time of his arrest, Luis Alberto was wearing a brown T-shirt and black pants; he carried tactical gear, loaded magazines, and long and short weapons around his waist. El Moto Ratón was accompanied by his security detail, three young men from the state of Sonora. Their names are:
*José Andrés Corral Gaxiola, 21, from Hermosillo, Sonora, wearing a white T-shirt and blue pants.
*Filiberto Balderrama Castro, also from Hermosillo, Sonora, 21, wearing a blue striped shirt and black pants.
*Ramón Eduardo Lucero Sillas, a minor from Ciudad Obregón, Sonora, wearing a blue shirt and black shorts.
The detainees were arrested with an arsenal of weapons, drug doses, and vehicles they used to move around Comondú and Loreto, consisting of eight long guns, one handgun, 70 magazines, 14 radios, four smoke grenades, one fragmentation grenade, five bags containing marijuana, nine tactical vests, two ballistic plates, five ammunition supplies, as well as two white vehicles: a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado and a Ram 1500.
“This leader was fully aware of the logistics of operating in Comondú, especially in Ciudad Constitución; he had the support of municipal security forces, some state corporation commanders, and a criminal structure whose scope, to date, not even the Security Roundtable institutions know. It is known that there must be a response, and that is why Comondú is under siege with a large presence of federal forces,” said the source from the Attorney General’s Office.
Also that same night, after the arrest of the Moto Ratón hitmen, intelligence forces were able to access information that led them to one of the locations of a safe house. It wasn’t until the GOT and Navy officers approached Quintana Roo Street in the Los Olivos neighborhood of Ciudad Constitución that they detected armed individuals.
The officers followed a young man walking outside the home “as a lookout,” carrying a long gun. It was then that the security units focused their attention on the location; they reported that they were unable to arrest the individual.
“During patrols along Quintana Roo Street, we saw a man who apparently was carrying a long gun. Upon noticing our presence, he quickly entered a home, dropping a long gun magazine at the entrance. Upon following him, more illicit material was found inside; the man fled through the roof, without any possibility of continuing the pursuit,” the officers said.
Inside the safe house, they found the following:
*A plastic firearm magazine loaded with a 7.62x39mm cartridge.
*A black and brown handgun with the legend “CENTURY ARMS 7.62×39 MM GEORGIA, VT” loaded with a black plastic magazine loaded with 7.62x39mm cartridges.
*A black M4 Carbine-style handgun, caliber 5.56mm, serial number LE557754, loaded with a gray metal magazine loaded with 5.56mm cartridges, with a cartridge in the chamber.
*A gray metal magazine loaded with 5.56mm cartridges.
*Six black plastic firearm magazines, all loaded with 7.62x39mm cartridges.
*A purple plastic bag containing three large transparent plastic wrappers, as well as a large quantity of white wrapping containing crystal meth.

FRIJOLÓN CELL DISMANTLED
Another blow to La Mayiza cells in Baja California Sur occurred two days after the fall of Moto Ratón, when security forces led by the Navy, accompanied by the State Preventive Police (GOT), the State Attorney General’s Office, and the Comondú Municipal Police, captured another of the criminal leaders responsible for generating violence in Comondú and Loreto for the Sinaloa Cartel.
Misael Martínez Cervantes, alias “El Misa” and/or “El Frijolón,” one of the logistics men also for Babay, was arrested along with two people, Citlali “N” and Abelardo “N,” linked to high-impact crimes in that area. Their capture took place just after noon on Friday, October 3, after receiving information through the National Intelligence Center.
“They are dismantling any threat from Los Mayos in Baja California Sur; they are attacking each of the group’s incursions to somehow mitigate the violence that has intensified, mainly in the northern part of the state. As the group that has attacked the most, it is also the most visible in operations against organized crime; they are blocking their roads,” said the source from the Security Roundtable.
During the operation on the streets of the Centro neighborhood of Ciudad Constitución in the municipality of Comondú, which lasted several hours, the following were seized:
*Six long guns.
*24 magazines loaded with long guns.
*Five tactical vests.
*34 homemade caltrops.
*156 packages of marijuana.
*65 packages containing crystal meth.
“Intelligence indicates that the detainees have set up several safe houses from which they are operating, at least in the places they frequented; it’s only a matter of time before new searches are carried out to dismantle the structure. They are taking weapons and drugs from their logistics, which is driving them out of the northern zone. According to intelligence, Misa is one of the groups responsible for destroying weapons, drugs, and locations for La Mayiza hitmen, although he is also an operator and executor for the opposition in Ciudad Constitución,” the member of the Security Roundtable stated.
Security forces are working to clarify the various homicides that have occurred primarily in the municipalities of Comondú and Loreto. However, they do not rule out the possibility that these devices, used exclusively by the Army, may have also been involved in events reported in the municipality of La Paz.
“Weapons, like human hands, have fingerprints that allow for identification. That is, a bullet fired from a certain weapon leaves a trace from the barrel that allows us to determine if a projectile was fired from one of them. In these cases, where multiple weapons are seized, it will be an important task for the Attorney General’s Office to identify and rule out each one as evidence in each of the recently reported cases,” explained the criminology specialist from the Autonomous University of Baja California Sur.
A BLOW TO THE DRUG TRAFFICKING: DRUGS CATCHED ON AN INFRINGE LANDING LINE
“In Los Cabos, a male was arrested, and five weapons, 1,000 rounds of ammunition of various calibers, 46 packages apparently containing marijuana, 75 doses of cocaine, two vehicles, and tactical equipment were seized,” was the only report from the State Security Roundtable in Baja California Sur.
At 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, a rumor of a shootout began in the communities of Cabo Pulmo and Los Frailes in Cabo del Este, and the community of San José del Cabo in the municipality of Los Cabos. Witnesses reported a shootout between Navy forces and armed civilians.
This has not been confirmed by authorities; however, citizens reported what happened when one of the men allegedly injured in the confrontation arrived shortly before 5:00 p.m. He was taken to the General Hospital of Subzone 38 of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in San José del Cabo. He died moments later while receiving medical attention.
What is known unofficially is that during the morning and afternoon of Thursday, October 2, federal security forces received information about a possible delivery of weapons and drugs at a clandestine airstrip located in the community of Los Frailes, along the road to Cabo del Este.
“Navy personnel seized two SUVs, a white Urban SUV and a black Suburban SUV; they were leaving the runway, presumably having just unloaded a small plane. Just as all the locals know, they have always used it as a drug entry point into Los Cabos, this runway was no secret. Upon arrival, they exchanged gunfire, and two people were reportedly injured; one of them died, a 21-year-old named Daniel ‘N,’” said PGJE officers.
According to reports, the weapons were high-caliber, including a light machine gun, two AK-47s, handguns, and thousands of live rounds of ammunition. The seizure took place just 160 meters from the runway. A third person was seized with the cargo, who did not resist and was taken before federal authorities, he acknowledged that the cargo belonged to members of the Sinaloa Cartel, specifically the La Chapiza faction.

NARCO-MESSAGE TO THE U.S.
Just after the seizure of 46 packages apparently containing marijuana and 75 doses of cocaine next to the Los Frailes airfield, rumors circulated that, during the early hours of Friday, October 3, two alleged narco-banners were placed along the San José del Cabo International Airport bypass at the toll booth and another on the Las Veredas bridge in San José del Cabo, Los Cabos municipality.
The written narco-message was addressed to US government officials and pointed to the interference of Mexican government officials, as follows:
“Terry Cole, Kash Patel, Ronald Tohnson, Navy, Ministerial, SADAI Group, Claudia Sheinbaum, Harfuch, State Attorney, Manager alias El 06 or better known as El Babay, you will be the culprits. We will show you how we will wage this war. Starting on 10/5/2025, we will begin to terminate every American citizen residing where La Chapiza has a presence, mainly those residing in Cabo San Lucas and San José, for getting involved in the war. In Sinaloa, Baja California Sur, we’re the ones in charge here you assholes, and we will show you if you don’t stop arresting the rabble and seizing laboratories and weapons in Juárez, Sinaloa, and Baja California Sur, and for intruding in the Sierra de Badiraguato. Attention: La Chapiza and its allies.” it reads.
Through a bulletin, the State Attorney General’s Office stated the position of Attorney General Antonio López Rodríguez, which states, verbatim, that he “categorically denied the discovery, today (October 5), of banners with messages and threats against government institutions in different towns in Baja California Sur.”
Specifically, the bulletin points out, without lying or denying, that “today” was Sunday, October 5, the date the rumor spread on social media. However, the alleged narco-banners circulated on Friday, October 3, and not on Sunday, October 5, which leaves open to speculation as to whether or not they were actually placed. What is true is that the rumor has already reached high-level intelligence agencies in the Mexican and United States governments.
It should be noted that, according to expert sources in organized crime, these narco-messages tend to be more criminal-political, since these are a threatening political call to the United States Government, initially for interfering, apparently, with American citizens, and another with a direct threat to American officials indicated in the narco-messages.
