Local media identify Rivera Martínez as the romantic partner of José Gregorio Lastra, who, according to statements by Omar García Harfuch, served as head of the Izaguirre ranch.
Federal authorities arrested Alma Rosa Rivera Martínez, alias “La Leona,” in the municipality of Tala, Jalisco. She is accused of recruiting for the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and is linked to the Izaguirre ranch.
Members of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection carried out the operation on Friday in that town and turned the woman over to the appropriate authorities, who will determine her legal status in the coming hours.
Local media identify Rivera Martínez as the romantic partner of José Gregorio Lastra, alias “El Lastra,” who was arrested in March 2025 in Mexico City for his alleged involvement in recruiting and training individuals for the CJNG.
Following that arrest, the head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, reported that José Gregorio Lastra, alias “El Lastra,” served as the head of the Izaguirre ranch, identified as a training camp for the CJNG cartel, and that he led recruitment efforts for that criminal group from May 2024 to March 2025.
According to information released at the time by the agency, José Gregorio Lastra, alias “El Lastra,” was an associate of Gonzalo “N,” alias “El Sapo,” identified as one of the cartel’s regional leaders in Jalisco, Nayarit, and Zacatecas. He was also identified as the alleged mastermind behind the kidnapping of two university students reported in June of last year.
The Teuchitlán case gained public relevance on March 5, after the Guerreros Buscadores de Jalisco collective reported the discovery of bone remains, clothing and objects on the property of almost one hectare that, months before, state authorities had intervened.
