Once again, crime is disrupting Mexicali’s nightclub district, this time through a direct attack on the Punto Once nightclub, located just a few meters from the Shots bar. Unknown individuals set fire to the door and spray-painted the initials CJNG on the main facade of the business.
The attack occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, January 7, at the establishment located across from the Benito Juárez monument, at the intersection of Benito Juárez, Justo Sierra, and Francisco L. Montejano avenues, in the heart of the nightclub district. At the scene, two men with their faces covered—one of them wearing protective gear—got out of a gray Honda sedan, poured fuel on the main door, and set it on fire.
The flames didn’t spread throughout the bar because firefighters were alerted and arrived to extinguish the fire, so the damage was not significant.
However, one of the most striking aspects of the attack was that the criminals spray-painted the initials CJNG on one of the windows, a reference to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, a criminal group that has allegedly increased its criminal presence in the municipality of Mexicali, where the dominant criminal group is Los Rusos.
This isn’t the first time businesses in the area have been attacked with Molotov cocktails or other devices; however, one of the most tragic episodes is the disappearance of a dozen young people who had gone to these entertainment venues.

There’s this dude in Mexicali, a chubby dark-skinned guy named Oscar Iñaqui Salcedo Santillán. This guy is supposedly the backbone of money laundering for the Russians. Maybe we’ll hear something about him later. I think he’s got a company called Terraviva where he launders money. The guy even has a corrido about him. I met him once at a club.
