While authorities are investigating the details of the Teuchitlán ranch, used as an extermination camp, in Tamaulipas, citizen collectives found charred remains and personal belongings.
A new killing field has been identified in Reynosa, adding to the list of clandestine sites where violence has left indelible marks.
The Colectivo Amor por los Desaparecidos (Love for the Disappeared Collective), made up of searching mothers, located at least 14 points with burned human remains in a desolate area between the Colinas del Real and Quinta San Martin neighborhoods.
Extermination camp
Edith Gonzalez, president of the collective, reported that the remains found show signs of having been exposed to extreme temperatures, suggesting a deliberate attempt to erase evidence.
During the exploration, accompanied by the National Guard, the State Guard and the State Search Commission, items were found that belonged to the victims: a buckle decorated with pistols, a rosary, high caliber shell casings, tactical equipment and bulletproof vests.
So far, the Tamaulipas state government spokesperson hasn’t issued any statement on the facts.
