El Mencho Sends Fighters To The Chapitos

The bloody war within the Sinaloa Cartel between the Chapitos and the Mayos that began on September 9 in the state of Sinaloa has spread to other states such as Sonora, Durango, and Nayarit. The two groups are fighting for control of the territories they shared for drug trafficking and other illicit activities. 

And according to an analysis released by the Observatorio Regional de Seguridad Humana de Apatzingán made known by the magazine Proceso, this confrontation has moved to the state of Michoacán. According to the analysis, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel will use their recent alliance with the Chapitos to confront the Mayiza, who in recent years have controlled the exit and trafficking of Michoacán as well as the border. 

The Observatorio Regional de Seguridad Humana de Apatzingán warned of the importance of the state ceasing to be considered as a territory in which only local criminal groups operate, since the operation of criminal groups with greater power is becoming more frequent. It detailed that Mencho’s group are specialists in making alliances based on their interests. 

An example of this is what happened between 2019 and 2020 when the local criminal alliance Cárteles Unidos was formed to confront the cartel led by El Mencho. However, over time, one of these local groups allied themselves with the New Generation Cartel in Jalisco and aligned themselves under their control just as it happened with Los Viagras. 

Michoacán is an important state for the cartels because the state has the only port of Lázaro Cárdenas. One of the most important for drug trafficking, mainly from South America. The conflict between the Chapitos and the Mayos broke out after the capture of El Mayo Zambada and Joaquín Guzmán López in the United States. 

After the war broke out, the Chapitos sought to ally themselves with the Jalisco cartel to fight Los Mayos. This alliance was named Fuerzas Especiales La Unión, according to information provided by journalists from Illicit Investigations on their social network X. According to the journalists, both criminal groups have agreed that the alliance would also be maintained in Chiapas. 

The Jalisco New Generation Cartel is focused on expelling the Zambadas faction while the Chapitos seek to consolidate control of Sinaloa, Durango, Sonora, and Chihuahua. The pact includes an alliance to fight together in these territories. The war has just begun, they reported. 

For his part, journalist Luis Chaparro reported that the alliance was not only formalized to confront the Mayos. They have also sought more weapons, money, and to integrate new recruits for the war. And they even tried to integrate people from the federal government. 

The cartel led by El Mencho has around 36 criminal groups that acted as its allies throughout the country, according to extensive information from consultants. Finally, through her account on the social network X, journalist Sandra Zúñiga recently revealed that the Jalisco New Generation Cartel sent fighters to support the Chapitos in their war with the Mayos. 

Some of these operatives go to Durango and others to Sinaloa to support the Pizzas, as the Chapitos faction are also known.
