Narco Abandons More Than A Thousand Doses Of Drugs In Tlajomulco, Jalisco.

Elements of the National Guard confiscated more than a thousand doses of different drugs that small-scale drug dealers abandoned on the streets of the Cántaros neighborhood in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Jalisco.

According to information from the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the elements of the National Guard were patrolling the area when they discovered two abandoned backpacks on a sidewalk at the intersection of Cántaro and Cántaro de Barro avenues.

While inspecting the contents of the backpacks, they discovered: two bundles of packaged marijuana, 594 wraps of methamphetamine, 379 marijuana cigarettes, 114 doses of cocaine, 61 bags of marijuana, and 45 wraps of a substance with the particular characteristics of the drug known as crack.

In total, authorities reported that the total weight of the drugs was 1.2 kilograms, which was left in the custody of the Federal Public Ministry where corresponding investigations will take place. No individuals were arrested.

This is not the first time that authorities have found abandoned drugs on the streets of Tlajomulco de Zúñiga. In June 2023, the Mexican Army and the Metropolitan Police of Jalisco found a truck with black bags in its cargo area: inside they found 46 kilograms of crystal meth and two kilograms of marijuana.

It was unofficially reported that the value of the confiscated drugs reached five million pesos in the illegal market. There were also no arrests made.

The municipality of Tlajomulco de Zúñiga is also one where high rates of violence are concentrated, mainly due to the large number of clandestine graves discovered in the region and for being considered one of the “extermination” sites of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).

Tlajomulco is part of the municipalities in the southeast of Guadalajara that are considered as one of the territories in dispute between the CJNG and the New Plaza Cartel: Tlaquepaque, Tonalá, and El Salto complete the list.

One of the highest points of this war, started by the betrayal of Carlos Enrique Sánchez, alias “El Cholo”, occurred in July 2023 when members of organized crime set a trap for personnel of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Jalisco. They were sent to a supposed clandestine grave where explosives were waiting for them, resulting in the death of six people and 15 others were injured.

Immediately, the CJNG denied responsibility for the attack and pointed to governor Enrique Alfaro for allegedly having ties to other criminal groups in the area.
