Blow To CJNG: 12 Members Of The Delta Group Detained And Charged In Court

Twelve members of Grupo Delta, the armed wing of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), were arrested and formally charged by a judge after being caught with weapons in San Pedro Tlaquepaque, Jalisco.

These individuals were captured on February 21st by members of the National Guard (GN) in coordination with soldiers from the Mexican Army, who deployed an operation on Plan de Valladolid Street 3238 in the Revolución housing development of the municipality above.

During a patrol in the area, the members of the National Guard observed several people with weapons getting out of a vehicle and entering a property. Therefore, upon intervening, they detained twelve individuals and confiscated six long weapons, one handgun, seven magazines, three homemade weapons, 143 cartridges of various calibers, and a vehicle.

Out of the captured individuals, a minor was arrested and transferred to a specialized judge for adolescents in Jalisco.

According to the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic (FGR), the members of the Delta Group, identified as Jaziel “G”, Alfonso “R”, Tomás “L”, Cristian “M”, Francisco “C”, Brandon “B”, Diego “T”, Leobardo “P”, Jonathan “L”, Rosaura “P”, José “F”, and Anthony “O” were captured in possession of weapons exclusively used by the army, and now face charges for violating the Federal Law on Firearms and Explosives.

These hitmen were handed over to the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) and will later be entered into the Puente Grande penitentiary complex, where they will remain during the legal process.

Subsequent investigations by the Office of the Federal Prosecutor led to obtaining a search warrant for the implicated property. In this operation, agents from the Federal Ministerial Police (PFM) and the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) additionally seized 39 bags of marijuana, 25 chargers, 41 cell phones, four firearms, a bag containing crystal substance, 12 vests, vehicle plates, six motorcycles, and two vehicles. This discovery strengthens the accusations against the detained individuals, indicating possible involvement in more extensive criminal activities.

It should be noted that on the same day that these individuals were captured, a second operation was also carried out by members of the National Guard in the El Tapatío neighborhood after the presence of armed individuals was reported.

The personnel of the National Guard arrived at the streets Brigada Central and Brigada Norte to corroborate the information. At that place, they were shot at by a group of unknown individuals, which led to a confrontation where a woman died after falling from the rooftop of a house while trying to escape from the officers.

In these actions, three men and one woman were arrested, and a dozen long weapons, three motorcycles, and nine tactical vests were seized from them.

Unofficially, it was indicated that the clothing had the legend “Cártel Jalisco Grupo Delta,” and six bags with alleged human remains were found inside a property.

As of the moment of this note, the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic, under the direction of Alejandro Gertz Manero, has not specified what happened to these people arrested in this second event or if the contents of the bags found contained human remains or not.

As we reported previously on Infobae Mexico, the CJNG of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, also known as El Mencho, has different armed branches, such as the Delta Group.

According to declassified documents from the National Defense Secretariat (SEDENA) by the Guacamaya group, it is registered that the Delta Group operates in the Metropolitan Zone and is used in high-impact operations.

This criminal cell would be led by Francisco Javier Gudiño Haro, alias “la Gallina”, “Gallo” and “Galleta”. This individual would be linked to the attack against the former head of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), Omar García Harfuch, in June 2020.
