In two separate incidents recorded in the municipality of San Pedro Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, elements of the National Guard (GN) detained a total of 17 people, seized firearms, and found half a dozen bags containing possible human remains.
At first, the presence of armed individuals in the neighborhood of El Tapatío was reported, so the authorities were requested. When personnel from the National Guard arrived at Brigada Central and Brigada Norte streets to verify the information, they were shot at by a group of unknown individuals.
The above triggered an exchange of fire that ended with the death of a woman who reportedly fell from the rooftop of a house while trying to flee from the police, according to reports from Telediario.
In these actions, four people were detained (three men and one woman), a dozen long weapons, three motorcycles and nine tactical vests were seized. Unofficially, it was indicated that the attire had the legend “Jalisco Cartel Delta Group”, although this has not been confirmed.
Likewise, six bags containing alleged human remains were found inside a property. All of these items were turned over to the Public Ministry.
In a second event (that occurred simultaneously with the first one), the GN carried out an operation in Plan de Valladolid 3238, Fraccionamiento Revolución, located in the same municipality.
In that place, 13 people (12 men and one woman) were detained and 12 long weapons were seized. Elements of the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena) also participated in these operations.
Until the edition of this note, neither the Secretary of Security of Jalisco nor the state Prosecutor’s Office have issued an official statement about these events, so the identities of the detained persons are unknown.
These violent events add to the attack that occurred in the early morning of February 18 on the streets of the Francisco I. Madero neighborhood, in the municipality of Tlaquepaque, in which seven young people lost their lives.
At first, the death of two women (aged 14 and 15) and four men (aged 14, 15, 20, and 23, respectively) was reported. They were attacked by a group of armed men with gunshots while walking through the streets of Lanús and Santiago de Liniers.
The following day, the State Prosecutor’s Office of Jalisco announced the death of another young man who had been hospitalized for injuries sustained during the attack. He was a 15-year-old teenager.
