Fernando Gaxiola, the deceased lawyer of the Zambada Niebla family, in a conversation with journalist Anabel Hernández, who was gathering information about ‘El Vicentillo’ for her book ‘The Traitor’, revealed some of the plans of Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán.
One of the things that was made clear is that the organization led by ‘El Mayo’ Zambada was one of the most reliable for criminal groups from other countries, due to its direct connection with cartels in Colombia, acting as an intermediary.
There were so many negotiations in which they were involved, that ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán already had plans to buy land in Colombia to produce his own cocaine and thus no longer have intermediaries. However, it is unknown if this operation was finalized.
“In Colombia, the Sinaloa Cartel is the most reliable in the drug trafficking chain. No one deals with a stranger, the only one who talks to a stranger is the end consumer. Gaxiola told me that ‘El Chapo’ was buying land in Colombia to produce cocaine himself and no longer go through any intermediary. However, in our last meeting, he could not confirm for me if the plan had been carried out,” reads in Anabel Hernández’s book ‘El Traidor’.”
Gaxiola jokingly told Anabel Hernández that the only person who talks to strangers is the end consumer, as the criminal organization has been responsible for transporting large shipments to different parts of the world, thanks to its extensive transportation network.
According to ‘El Rey’ Zambada, the Sinaloa Cartel was motivated to expand into Asia and Oceania because of the high payment for drugs in those places, as in Russia and China it was 200 thousand dollars, while in Australia and New Zealand it was up to 300 thousand.
“It can be understood the motivation behind the Sinaloa Cartel’s decision to leave the American continent and expand globally. ‘King’ stated that the price for a kilo of drugs in New York reached 35,000 dollars, in Russia and China it was 200,000 dollars, and in Australia and New Zealand it was even up to 300,000 dollars. The IDA report indicates that the Sinaloa drug operations continue to expand worldwide. Traditionally, the TCO (Transnational Criminal Organization) has operated widely in Central and South America, managing sophisticated networks of transportation cells and financial branches in these regions to move cocaine towards and through Mexico,” wrote Anabel Hernández.
