This Was The Meeting Between ‘El Mayo’ Zambada And ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán After His First Escape.

Vicente Zambada Niebla, also known as ‘El Vicentillo’, in the book ‘El Traidor’ by Mexican journalist Anabel Hernández, recounted the meeting between ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán and his father, who saw each other for the first time after the escape from Puente Grande at a ranch located in the State of Mexico.

In the dialogue between both bosses, Vicente Zambada assured that ‘El Mayo’ offered to help him economically because at the time he was going through a financial crisis, but with the condition that he went into hiding.

“Despite there being coordination among other members of the Sinaloa Cartel, there was much more coordination between my father and ‘Chapo’, particularly when ‘Chapo’ escaped from prison in January 2001, he and my father worked together to lead the organization as equals. I saw ‘Chapo’ shortly after his escape, in the State of Mexico, at a ranch owned by a friend of mine named Barbarino. I was with my father and my friend ‘Pollo’, and there I was able to greet ‘Chapo’. My father and he had a conversation – it had been a short time since my friend had escaped and he was being sought after throughout Mexico. Before anything else, it was a great pleasure to see each other again, to hug and talk about themselves”, reads the book “The Betrayer” by Anabel Hernández.

In another part of their conversations, Guzmán Loera showed gratitude for what he did for his brother Arturo Guzmán Loera, ‘El Pollo’, who was working in the organization, but months later would be apprehended.

“My ‘compadre’ ‘Chapo’ said at the time that he was present, because I would come and go while they were talking, ‘that he was very grateful to my father for what he had done for my ‘compadre’ ‘Pollo’, for his cousins the Beltrán Leyva, referring to all the support my father had given them’, and my father said ‘there’s no need to thank me because they were friends, they were partners’, my ‘compadre’ ‘Chapo’ said that he wasn’t doing well financially and that he was going to reach out to his contacts and his people to start working in the drug trafficking business again, my father told him ‘not to worry at the moment, he should be careful because he was being pursued, that he would help him financially, that he was working with and was associated with the Beltrán Leyva and Vicente Carrillo Fuentes’, they were some of the partners of the criminal group.”

Guzmán Loera, just a few days away from escaping, was afraid of being captured, so ‘El Mayo’ supported him by providing him with some shelters, while his search calmed down, as the young government of Fox began to be attacked.

“For every kilogram of cocaine he received from Colombia, Ismael Mario would give him half,” Joaquín Archivaldo was told, who was grateful for his offer and thus began to build a drug empire that would have control over Mexico during the 2000s.

“My father told him, ‘I’m with you in whatever you need and for every kilo of cocaine I receive from Colombia, I’ll give you half,’ and he said, ‘so for now, you must take care and stay hidden,’ my godfather ‘Chapo’ said ‘thank you,’” were the statements of ‘El Vicentillo’.
