The arrest was confirmed by the Veracruz Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities in Veracruz reported the arrest of Abraham “N”, a man identified by the alias “El Doble Cero” for whom authorities were offering a reward of up to 350,000 pesos. In addition, media reports identify him as the alleged leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
The arrest of this subject was shared on June 23 by the Veracruz State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), which wrote on its social networks:
“In collaboration with the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Chiapas and the National Anti-Kidnapping Coordination (CONASE) executed in that state an arrest warrant issued by the judicial authority based in the district of Coatzacoalcos, against Abraham “N”, as likely responsible for the crime of aggravated intentional homicide.”
For its part, Infobae Mexico corroborated through the National Registry of Arrests (RND) that the capture of the man for whom Veracruz authorities were offering a reward was arrested on June 23, and that the man is also known by the alias El Fénix.
Veracruz authorities didn’t share further details about the arrest of the man, only that he will be presented before a judge in a hearing in which his legal situation can be defined.
Who is “El Doble Cero”?
Likewise, the description provided by federal authorities coincides with the image of one of his previous arrests. The RND highlights that he has a tattoo of a phoenix on his chest, in addition to the shape of a watch on one of his arms.
On June 10, reporter Fluvio César Martínez told Milenio that the recently captured man was linked to the CJNG. On that occasion, several banners with the logo of the Veracruz Prosecutor General’s Office were registered announcing the reward for El Doble Cero.
In addition, press records indicate that Abraham “N” could be linked to the murder of the director of Municipal Public Security of San Juan Evangelista, Mariano Rodríguez Pérez, a homicide that was carried out in February 2019.
The recently captured man could also be linked to the murder of businesswoman Susana Carrera, whose captors demanded the sum of four million pesos to free her. Her body was found in February 2019. On that occasion, her husband, Luis Manríquez, confirmed the death through his Facebook social network account.
