The State of Chihuahua Accumulates 55 Homicides In The First 10 days

On the first day of 2025 alone, at the state level the agency recorded a total of 10 intentional homicides,

Ten days before 2025 began, a total of 55 homicides have been registered in the state of Chihuahua, according to data provided by the State Public Security Secretariat (SSPE), with Ciudad Juárez being the municipality that had the majority of cases, with a total of 30.

The figures provided by the state public security authority highlight that only in Ciudad Juárez, there are 30 intentional homicides in different events, the state capital with 15, Aquiles Serdán with four and the rest in other municipalities, where the figures don’t exceed past two.

On the first day of 2025 alone, at the state level the agency recorded a total of 10 intentional homicides, with Ciudad Juárez being the most violent city; The state capital recorded three homicides, the remaining two in Guadalupe and Calvo, the latter two corresponding to the two bodies left hanging in the entrance arch to the municipality on the night of January 1, which alarmed the population.

In the state capital, the first homicide was of a man who was shot 11 times in the back by his neighbor, in events that occurred in the Rinconada Los Nogales neighborhood, after drinking alcohol for several hours on the morning of January 1, both men argued, the now deceased man decided to break the windows of his attacker’s truck, the latter went to his house and killed him.

The second case corresponds to an execution that took place on the streets of the Santa Rita neighborhood, where after an armed attack, one man lost his life and another was left with serious injuries. During the early hours of January 1, a man died from a stray bullet, one of the so-called “live” bullets, in events that the state attorney general’s office later announced that they were reviewing as a homicide and that it wasn’t due to negligence. 

Another of the most violent days was last January 9, with a total of eight homicides in the state capital and the neighboring municipality of Aquiles Serdán, the latter standing out with a multiple case of three murders in the same place.

Regarding the cases of Aquiles Serdán, two violent events were reported simultaneously, one with a balance of three dead men and another with a dead man. It was inside a house located on Alejandrita and Onix streets, south of the city; where neighbors observed that armed subjects entered the house, shooting at the three subjects; each one was found with a gunshot in the head.

At the same time, in another house on Esmeraldas and Rubi streets, authorities found a man brutally beaten and with his throat slit, for which they began the corresponding investigations.

In Ciudad Juarez, just last January 10, they reported an armed attack that left a man dead on the streets of the Felipe Angeles neighborhood, which mobilized authorities from the three levels of government. Hours later, another subject was shot dead on the streets of the Nuevo Mexico neighborhood.

During the evening of that day, after responding to the report of a truck on fire in the Felipe Angeles neighborhood, near the Camino Real thoroughfare, they noticed that a body was immolated, resulting from the accident.

In the state capital, the latest violent incident was the discovery of an immolated person on a dirt road at kilometer 23 of the highway to Chihuahua, three kilometers towards the highway to Ciudad Juárez, residents of the Sacramento community were the ones who notified the authorities about the presence of the completely burned body, which mobilized various police corporations.
