A couple of merchants were shot dead this morning at the Central de Abastos in León, just as they were setting up their shop.
Early this Tuesday, a double homicide was reported at the Central de Abastos in León. A man and a woman who were just setting up their stall were shot to death in front of customers and merchants, despite the fact that a few meters from the site there was a police booth.
The attack was reported at seven in the morning, just outside modules E and F, in the aforementioned shopping center, located on the León – Cuerámaro highway.
The victims, whose identity has not been provided, were setting up their stall. According to information from other merchants, they had arrived a few minutes earlier and had just put up their tent. The couple was selling tennis shoes, clothing and other items.
Both were on the access ramp to the aforementioned modules, when two armed men arrived on board a black Pulsar motorcycle and shot them without saying a word.
The victims tried to take shelter behind two trucks, but were hit by gunfire and both were wounded.
The attackers fled immediately before the Municipal Police officers at the checkpoint arrived at the scene of the attack.
The woman was left lying on the ramp and the man about six meters away on the sidewalk, between a truck and an onion stand.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and confirmed the death of both victims, approximately 50 years old. Their bodies were covered with blue sheets to avoid morbid curiosity among merchants and customers in the area. Despite the events, commercial activities at the Central de Abastos did not stop.
The deceased is a dark-skinned male, with short gray hair, robust, approximately 1.65 meters tall, wearing a navy blue shirt, navy blue jeans, and black tennis shoes.
The woman is also dark-skinned, 1.60 meters tall, wearing a gray sweatshirt, a pink polo shirt, blue jeans, and green tennis shoes.

On January 8, both individuals were in the same place when they were victims of an armed attack. The woman was unharmed and El Cochiloco was only grazed in the right arm and didn’t require medical attention.
On that occasion, no ballistic evidence was found, the area was not cordoned off with yellow tape and the authorities quickly left the site. That day it was reported that El Cochiloco was the owner of a clandestine casino located in the same premises of Central de Abastos.
The couple had a long record of arrests in police custody for various offenses and crimes. On several occasions they were presented before the State Attorney General’s Office for the crimes committed.
