The General Attorney’s Office of the Republic (FGR) has launched an investigation following the seizure of marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamine at a shipping company’s facility in Santa Catarina, Nuevo León.
The operation, conducted on June 7th, involved FGR agents, the Federal Ministerial Police (PFM), and the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC). The FGR confirmed the seizure and stated that an investigation is underway for drug trafficking charges against those responsible.
It remains unclear whether the company’s managers or executives are implicated in the storage and shipment of the drugs, and the intended destination has not been disclosed.

The seizure at the packaging company in Santa Catarina is part of a growing trend where criminal groups use parcel services to ship narcotics, primarily near the border. Recent months have seen multiple significant drug busts involving shipping companies in Nuevo León.
In early December 2023, National Guard officers discovered methamphetamine hidden in hammocks during an inspection at a Culiacán company. A trained dog detected the drugs in a box destined for San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León. The “artisanal hammocks” were found to be made from drug-infused material.
By February 2024, National Guard canine teams intercepted 16 shipments of marijuana attempting to leave Nuevo León for Coahuila, Chihuahua, Durango, and Tamaulipas. Authorities reported two seizures: 14 packages from a company in Guadalupe and 2.5 kilograms from a store in Santa Catarina.

In other crimes in Nuevo León, the FGR reported the seizure of 40,000 liters of stolen fuel and the arrest of a person in a tanker truck in Linares, near the Tamaulipas border.
Orlando “C,” the driver, was detained and presented before the Federal Public Prosecutor after being stopped at kilometer 136 of the Ciudad Victoria-Monterrey highway. The FGR stated that both the suspect and the seized fuel are now under the jurisdiction of the Federal Public Ministry, which is managing the investigation under the Federal Law for the Prevention and Punishment of Hydrocarbon-Related Crimes.
