Morena’s Candidate For City Councilor In Celaya Is Found Alive; Secretary Of Public Security Had Declared Them Dead.

“Adrián Guerrero Caracheo, Morena’s candidate for first councilor of the City Council of Celaya and former leader of section XII of the Telephone Workers Union of the Mexican Republic (STRM), was found alive in the afternoon of April 2, 2024.”

The candidate for councilor was injured during the attack against Bertha Gisela Gaytán Gutiérrez, candidate of the same party for the mayorship of Celaya, in the state of Guanajuato, which occurred one day earlier during a campaign event held in the community of San Miguel de Octopan.

Rosa Icela Rodríguez Velázquez, head of the Federal Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), confirmed earlier on the same day that the Morena candidate for first councilor of the City Council of Celaya was injured during the attack against Gaytán Gutiérrez and died while receiving medical attention.

“First of all, we regret the murders of Bertha Gisela Gaytán, candidate for municipal president in Celaya, and Adrián Guerrero, candidate for councilor in Celaya, Guanajuato, both from the Morena party. We express our solidarity with their family and friends, and assure that these acts will not go unpunished,” emphasized Rodríguez Velázquez.

“In light of the murder of the mayoral candidate of Celaya, Guanajuato, Gisela Gaytán, we have been updated on the information regarding councilor candidate Adrián Guerrero Caracheo, who is currently considered missing and not deceased as reported this morning. The Secretariat of Public Security (SSPC) is awaiting the progress of the investigations to locate him,” the Federal Government itself denied to Rodríguez Velázquez via a subsequent statement.”
