Through a statement, the National Defense Secretariat (SEDENA) reported that as of this Friday, February 9th, two thousand members of the Mexican Army are expected to arrive in Tijuana to reinforce the actions of the troops already here, as part of the National Public Security Strategy and the federal government’s zero impunity policy.
The main objective of the new military elements will be to coordinate with local authorities to carry out actions that reduce crime rates, particularly homicides.
Among their tasks are to carry out dissuasion, prevention, patrols, reconnaissance, and establish military security posts that create a peaceful environment for the population, in compliance with the National Law on the Use of Force and respecting the human rights of individuals.
