The General Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) reported on the arrest of the second person involved in the kidnapping of four workers from a chicken store in December of last year in Toluca.
Through its X account, the Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Mexico detailed that members of the autonomous organism, with the support of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, carried out an arrest warrant against Sherlyn “N”, who is being investigated for her alleged involvement in the disappearance of 4 workers from a chicken store located in the municipality of Toluca on December 22.
The Edomex Prosecutor’s Office specified that this person was arrested in the municipality of Ixtapaluca and will be taken to a state Prison and Social Reintegration Center for the Judicial Authority to determine their legal status.
On the afternoon of January 29, the autonomous organization reported on the arrest of César Alberto “N” in the municipality of Chicoloapan.
“Elements of the State Prosecutor’s Office and the SSPC arrested and complied with an arrest warrant against César Alberto “N”, a priority target of the Prosecutor’s Office, allegedly involved in the disappearance of 4 workers from a chicken selling warehouse located in the municipality of Toluca,” was part of the message from the authorities.

With the capture of these two individuals, the number of those detained for the kidnapping of workers from a chicken warehouse has now reached three, after authorities from the state of Mexico reported on December 24th the capture of Santiago Ramón “N”, identified as a possible instigator of violence and extorter of “protection fees” from merchants.
“Authorities reported that they are investigating their involvement in the illegal detention of four individuals who were selling chicken at a stall. This incident occurred in recent days and was shared on social media.”
They added that this person was primarily extorting merchants, carrying out what is known in the criminal realm as “cobro de piso” (translation: charging a fee for protection), and they may have even been actively involved in the kidnapping of victims who refused to make the required payments.
The Michoacan Family is a criminal organization that is led by brothers Jonnhy and Alfredo Hurtado Olascoaga, also known as El Fresa and El Pez, respectively. Their illicit drug business has expanded to the state of Mexico (Edomex), mainly targeting extortion of chicken, eggs, tortillas, corn products, and agricultural sector merchants.

According to authorities in the State of Mexico, wholesale traders of chicken and eggs were imposed a fee of two pesos per kilogram, which went directly to leaders of the organization with origins in Michoacán. Meanwhile, for retail traders of chicken and eggs, the illegal fee is five pesos per kilogram.
These extortions, according to the authorities of the state governed by the morenista Delfina Gomez, are controlled by Sergio “N”, also known as El Borrego, who has two arrest warrants against him. In addition to El Borrego, the authorities identify Misael “N”, also known as El Pollo and/or El Misa, as well as Nabor “N”.
Misael “N” was extorting in the municipalities of Calimaya, Tenango and Tenancingo, while Nabor, considered the main “hoarder” of the chicken and egg trade, does so in Toluca, Temascaltepec and Zinacantepec.
El Pollo was arrested in November 2022; Nabor on January 17th, 2023. Both have already been indicted for extortion charges. Despite their arrest, extortions and storefront protection fees for merchants and farmers continue to happen in some of the municipalities in the State of Mexico.
