The Secretary of Security, Omar García Jaruch, announced the arrest of an operative who was regarded as Ismael Mayo Zambada’s right-hand man. He was regarded as his right-hand man in Europe. The man in question is José Ángel Rivera Zazueta, alias ‘El Flaco’, against whom an arrest warrant was executed with a view to his extradition to the United States on drug trafficking charges.
He was arrested at in the Cuautemoxí borough here in Mexico City following an exchange of information with the FBI and the DEA. In 2023, US authorities reported that ‘El Flaco’ was responsible for importing chemical precursors from China.
He had his base of operations in Culiacán, Sinaloa, and at in Mexico City; furthermore, the drug lord had expanded his distribution networks into Central and South America, also reaching, as I was saying, markets in Europe, as well as in Asia, Africa and even Australia.
