These videos show Gente del Serio (GDS), also known as La Seriesada, a CJNG armed group linked in reporting to Francisco Jaramillo Valdovinos, alias El Serio.
Jaramillo also goes by El Seriecito, Comandante Serio and Chico Jaramillo. Reporting associates his group primarily with Guerrero’s Tierra Caliente region and links him to El Jardinero.
In January 2025, U.S. prosecutors identified Jaramillo as an alleged senior CJNG commander and announced charges against him as part of Operation Noch, an investigation into drug trafficking and money laundering involving cellphone purchases and sales. He was listed as a fugitive at the time.
That fugitive designation conflicted with an earlier report of his death. Oaxaca authorities reportedly declared Jaramillo dead following an August 2023 shooting, but U.S. authorities subsequently sought him as a fugitive, raising questions about the earlier identification.
More recently, an August 2026 investigation alleged that Jaramillo obtained weapons through a trafficking network operated from inside a U.S. prison.
CJNG has confirmed to me that El Serio has been named El Jardinero’s successor following Jardinero’s arrest.
