Decisive Strike Against CJNG, Los Menchos Boys in Zacatecas
In a coordinated effort, Zacatecas Quick Reaction Forces, State Preventive Police, the Mexican Army, and the National Guard captured six individuals. The arrest was purportedly linked to the Los Menchos Boys, a faction of the Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generación, CJNG. The operation unfolded in the Villas Universidad neighborhood, rounding up three men and three women from various Mexican states and two from Venezuela and Colombia. Seized items included firearms, ammunition, marijuana, cocaine, and “stone” substances, marking a significant blow to the criminal cell and reinforcing the ongoing battle against organized crime in CJNG-controlled areas.
Substantial Drug Haul and Arrests in Sonora
Days before the new year, a joint operation by the Ministry of National Defence and the Attorney General’s Office led to a significant seizure in Sonora. Over 270 kilograms of methamphetamines, marijuana, and heroin were confiscated from a Hermosillo property. The operation also resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of cash, vehicles, and military-grade weapons and equipment. Despite the operation being announced on the last day of December 2023, the actual seizure took place on the 28th, coinciding closely with a tragic massacre in Ciudad Obregon.
Tabasco Takedown: Military Arsenal and Drugs Seized
Meanwhile, the National Guard and Mexican Army apprehended an individual in Cárdenas, Tabasco, who was found with a considerable cache of military weapons and narcotics. Officers patrolling the area encountered several armed individuals who fled, leaving one man trapped with a long weapon, magazines, cartridges, a grenade launcher, tactical vests, bulletproof plates, communication radios, and packages resembling marijuana and cocaine. The seized items and the detained suspect were handed over to the General Prosecutor’s Office in Tabasco for further legal proceedings while efforts to locate the fleeing accomplices continued.
These recent operations reflect the unwavering commitment and collaboration among various security forces in Mexico to dismantle organized crime networks and reduce the widespread impact of drug trafficking and violence in the nation.
