The detained persons and the seized objects were handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office to determine their legal status.
State and federal authorities detained 26 people, among them 21 members of the Municipal Public Security Secretariat, in the municipality of Suchiapa. The arrests were made as part of nine searches carried out as part of the investigation into the events of March 29, when one person lost his life and three others were arrested after an armed attack.
The searches were carried out by the State Attorney General’s Office through the Ministerial Investigation and Intelligence Agency, in coordination with the Pakal Immediate Reaction Force, the People’s Security Secretariat, the National Guard and the National Defense Secretariat.
Among those arrested were Isidro “N”, Rodrigo “N”, Julio “N” and Antonio “N”, who were arrested with various doses of marijuana, cocaine and methamphetamine. In addition, the 21 municipal police officers were arrested for their alleged participation in the crimes of criminal association and improper use of decorations, uniforms and insignia.

In a related operation, security agents arrested Reynaldo “N”, commander of the Ministerial Investigation and Intelligence Agency, on the Suchiapa – Tuxtla Gutiérrez highway, who was driving a stolen Toyota Hilux vehicle in a “reckless and evasive” manner. He was placed at the disposal of the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Vehicle Theft.
Investigations are continuing to clarify the violent events of March 29 and to determine responsibilities.
