Operations in municipalities such as Caborca, Nogales, Hermosillo, and San Luis Río Colorado resulted in the capture of cell leaders from groups like Los Deltas and Los Rusos.
2025 was a year marked by an intense fight against organized crime in Sonora, where various cartel factions operate. Throughout the year, federal and state authorities, including the Mexican Navy (Semar), the National Guard, and the Sonora State Attorney General’s Office (FGJES), conducted operations that resulted in the arrests of key criminal leaders and operatives.
February
One of the most notable captures occurred in February, when security forces apprehended Arat Edrei ‘N’, alias ‘Gama 15’ or ‘Gordo’, identified as the alleged leader of the Los Deltas criminal cell, an armed wing of the Los Chapitos faction of the Sinaloa Cartel. The arrest took place on February 14 in Caborca, where this group operated. Arat Edrei was linked to crimes such as criminal conspiracy, homicides, and drug trafficking.

Sources indicate that Gabriel ‘N’, alias ‘El Keka’, another individual associated with this leader, was captured in the same month in Caborca, weakening the operations of Los Deltas in the border region.

March
During March, the arrest of Salú Francisco ‘N’, alias ‘El Ponchis’ or ‘El Fantasma’, who was identified as the leader of a dangerous criminal organization, was reported. This apprehension in Sonora was part of a series of operations against high-profile leaders, with this individual facing charges of drug trafficking and homicide. Just over a month after his arrest in Hermosillo, he managed to escape from prison and is currently still at large.

May
In May, another important blow was dealt on the 25th of that month in Guaymas, where the Mexican Navy, the Criminal Investigation Agency (AMIC), and municipal police arrested nine operatives of a group linked to the Sinaloa Cartel. The detainees, seven men and two women whose names were not released, face charges for possession of weapons and drugs. October
On October 30, 2025, in Nogales, Martín ‘N’ was arrested. He was considered a high-priority target by authorities. The individual was linked to drug trafficking and organized crime and was identified as a generator of violence in the border region. That same day, also in Nogales, Martín de Jesús ‘N’, alias ‘El Tomate’, was captured. He is a suspected member of the Los Gigios criminal group, which is involved in drug trafficking and kidnapping, and is also linked to a faction associated with Los Mayos.

November
Finally, on November 10, in San Luis Río Colorado, federal and state forces executed two search warrants that resulted in the arrest of Abdel ‘N’, alias ‘El Toro’, and Miguel Ángel ‘N’, alias ‘El Torito’. Both were identified as members of the Los Rusos criminal cell and suspected of trafficking methamphetamine, fentanyl, firearms, and being involved in homicides.
