A mechanic workshop enabled the creation of vehicles with artisanal armor or “tanks” of the so-called “monsters” was discovered by elements of the Criminal Investigation Agency, in coordination with elements of the National Defense Secretariat (SEDENA), during an operation carried out in Sonoyta.

Sonora authorities announced the finding through a press release in which three cars, two long guns, and narcotics were discovered. Police officers and soldiers searched a warehouse located between the Ejido Desierto de Sonora and Ejido la Nariz, in the vicinity of the mentioned Sonoran community, where they knew about illegal activities.

After “bursting” the building, they discovered a Dode Ram pickup truck, a “monster” type armored vehicle with a turret to mount a machine gun, a Hummer H2 brand truck, and a Chevrolet Silverado vehicle. Around them, ballistic steel plates, welding plants, assembly machines, industrial spot welders, as well as two long guns, live ammunition, drugs, and a bucket containing 78 “tire-poppers” were also found, among other evidence.

During the investigation of this event, more information was obtained, and another nearby property was searched, where two more high-end trucks were seized.
