The agent of the Municipal Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection of Tijuana, Hector Enciso Garcia, was the victim of an armed attack while he was heading home. The report was received at emergency numbers at 06:18 am on Wednesday, February 28, on Mount Everest street, Real de Loma Bonita subdivision in Tijuana.
Since early on, a video of the attack circulated on social media showing the moment when the police officer’s white vehicle was rammed and hit from the left side of the driver. The assailants crashed head-on into Enciso’s door and began shooting through the window from inside the car.
“Apparently, the perpetrator became destabilized by the impact of the collision and the first shots he fired were at an upward angle, not straight ahead. This gave the agent time to react and escape from the point of attack,” his colleagues recounted.
In the video, we can see how the agent exits through the passenger door and escapes from the shooting area. “He was injured, but he was able to escape.”
Last year, the attacked police officer was assigned to the Technical Evaluation Unit, due to reports that were not made public, an internal review was initiated and he was reassigned to fixed points as a building guard. In December, he was returned to the streets for the Christmas and New Year Operation and was reassigned to the La Mesa delegation.
Unofficially, the authorities are considering the possibility that the attack may be related to the capture of a member of the Arellano Cartel, carried out by the municipal police on Tuesday, February 20th.
