Reporting and context
Authorities in Mexico State arrested a man identified as Javier “N,” known as “El Javiercillo,” whom investigators describe as a possible member of the group known as 300 or Unión 300. El Financiero reported that the group is linked by authorities to alleged extortion, dispossession and homicides, and has operated in municipalities including Ecatepec, Tecámac and Cuautitlán in the northern and northwestern Valley of Mexico.
According to the Mexico State Attorney General’s Office, investigators allege that Javier “N” and other armed men went to a resident’s home in the Héroes de Tecámac neighborhood on July 6, 2024. The men allegedly threatened the resident and sought to take control of the property, while also demanding rent of 3,000 pesos during the first five days of each month.
The Fiscalía said the resident was later told to hand over a vehicle. Several days afterward, investigators allege, Javier “N” returned for the car and the payment; the resident gave him 1,500 pesos, saying he feared reprisals. Prosecutors identified a possible suspect, obtained an arrest warrant for alleged extortion and later detained him in Tlalnepantla.
Javier “N” was taken to the Barrientos penitentiary, where he remained at the disposal of a judge who will determine his legal situation.
