Roberto Tapia denies romance rumors involving Emma Coronel

Infobae México reported that regional Mexican singer Roberto Tapia denied having a romantic relationship with Emma Coronel after videos showed them dancing closely at a private party in Los Angeles on Sept. 26. The videos showed Coronel dancing and singing with Tapia as he performed “El Niño de la Tuna,” a 2009 corrido he wrote that references Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán. The footage prompted online speculation about the pair.

According to Infobae México, Tapia said the dance was ordinary and attributed the rumors to people on social media. When asked whether he and Coronel were getting to know each other romantically, he described her as a longtime friend and said he is also close to her family. He joked during the interview that he had recently opened a dance academy and was a teacher, then clarified that he was not speaking seriously.

Tapia also said he had declined invitations to appear on dance-focused reality programs because he considers himself a poor dancer and prefers performing as a singer. The party was organized by content creator Víctor Ordóñez, known as “Lonche de Huevito,” and was attended by singer Gerardo Ortiz, who separately defended Coronel’s right to make decisions about her personal life, Infobae México reported.

Coronel has also denied being in a relationship, according to the source. Infobae México said she remains on supervised release in the United States until September 2027 after serving a three-year sentence for drug trafficking and money laundering. The source said she has since focused on modeling and her social-media presence.
