Reporting and context
Mexican authorities arrested Erick “N,” known as El Trébol, near Querétaro International Airport while executing a warrant for his detention for extradition at the request of U.S. authorities, according to Ríodoce, citing Mexico’s Security Cabinet.
The Security Cabinet said he was wanted by a federal court in the Southern District of Texas and sought by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. Authorities allege that he belongs to a transnational criminal organization trafficking cocaine and methamphetamine from Mexico to the United States.
Ríodoce reported that information shared by Mexican and U.S. authorities helped investigators identify the area where he moved around in Querétaro. Agents then used stationary and mobile surveillance to track his movements and identify the vehicles he used.
Personnel from the federal Attorney General’s Office, working through its Criminal Investigation Agency and Interpol in coordination with the Security and Citizen Protection Ministry, carried out the operation near the airport and detained him.
Authorities allege that El Trébol is part of a cell distributing drugs from Mexico to Texas. After his arrest, he was placed at the disposal of prosecutors to determine his legal status and continue the extradition process, the outlet reported.
