David N. faces trial in alleged elder-extortion case
La Prensa Ciudad de México reports that David N. was arrested and ordered to stand trial in a continuing aggravated-extortion case involving an older adult. Prosecutors say the victim paid 22,500 pesos after threats, and investigators identified the account used to receive the deposits through financial tracing.
Mexico City investigators arrested and secured the prosecution of David “N” on a charge of continuing aggravated extortion against an older adult, La Prensa Ciudad de México reports. The Mexico City Attorney General’s Office said the case began on March 2, 2026, when the victim received an intimidating phone call.
The caller allegedly claimed to have personal information about the victim, invoked the criminal group La Unión Tepito and said a third party had paid 75,000 pesos to harm him. The victim then made several deposits into an account held in David N.’s name and received further threats, including a photograph of his wife leaving her home. The demands continued on March 3 and 4, and the victim paid a total of 22,500 pesos, according to the report.
La Prensa Ciudad de México reports that prosecutors instructed the Investigative Police to trace the deposits. That financial analysis identified David N. as the account holder, after which the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office obtained an arrest warrant. Investigators executed it on September 10 in the Cuauhtémoc borough.
At a September 16 hearing, prosecutors presented their evidence and a judicial authority ordered David N. to stand trial, imposed pretrial detention and set two months for the complementary investigation to close. The extortion allegations and claimed links to La Unión Tepito are attributed to the prosecution and the source report; the court proceedings remain ongoing.
