Federal authorities have transferred Mario Lindoro Elenes and Mario Alfredo Lindoro Navidad—alias “El 7″—to a maximum-security prison; they have been identified as the father-in-law and brother-in-law, respectively, of Iván Archivaldo Guzmán, one of the top leaders of “Los Chapitos,” a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel.
Both men had been incarcerated at Federal Center for Social Reinsertion No. 2—known as Puente Grande—in Jalisco, from where they were moved alongside other inmates deemed to be high-profile.
According to state and federal authorities, the transfer was carried out as part of a coordinated operation aimed at tightening control over individuals incarcerated who are linked to criminal organizations.
**Operation Included 16 Inmates Linked to Various Cartels**
Authorities reported that the transfer was part of a broader strategy to relocate inmates associated with criminal groups to facilities featuring higher levels of control and surveillance.
In total, the operation involved the transfer of 16 individuals who are linked to various criminal organizations, including the Sinaloa Cartel, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), and the Beltrán Leyva Organization.
Of this group, 12 inmates were sent to Federal Center for Social Readaptation No. 1—known as “Altiplano”—located in the State of Mexico and considered one of the country’s most significant maximum-security prisons.
The deployment was supported by the National Guard, the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR), and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), with the objective of preventing any incidents during the transfer.
According to authorities, this relocation also serves as a response to recent security incidents recorded within penitentiary centers in Jalisco, which necessitated a reinforcement of controls throughout the prison system.
**Arrested During Operations in December 2025**
Mario Lindoro Elenes and his son, Mario Alfredo Lindoro Navidad, were arrested by federal authorities in December 2025 during operations targeting structures linked to the Sinaloa Cartel. Investigations indicate that both individuals allegedly operated within the inner circle of Iván Archivaldo Guzmán—one of the sons of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán and a central figure in the faction known as Los Chapitos.
Following their capture, they were placed at the disposal of judicial authorities and formally charged with crimes against public health, possession of firearms restricted for the exclusive use of the Army, and alleged operations involving funds of illicit origin.
Authorities believe that their transfer to a maximum-security prison will help mitigate the risk of continued criminal operations from behind bars and strengthen control measures over inmates linked to drug trafficking networks.
