In Jalisco, criminals possessed technology capable of detecting the arrival of authorities in the Pueblo Quieto area of Guadalajara. According to information from the State Attorney General’s Office, Salvador González de los Santos—the State Attorney—confirmed that during operations conducted in the area, authorities discovered electronic devices installed in a tree.
These devices allowed criminals to detect the approach of law enforcement, leading to the belief that the criminals operating in the zone were constantly on alert. During that operation, several electronic devices were indeed detected—specifically in a tree—which apparently served to alert these individuals whenever authorities approached.
Whether it was the police, the Attorney General’s Office, or even the Army or National Guard conducting an operation in the area, the system would warn them that personnel were drawing near. This device was subsequently deactivated. Consequently, we have realized that those individuals engaged in illicit activities are both forewarned and prepared.
It is worth noting that these operations are always conducted with full respect for the human rights of the residents living there—people who have families and businesses in the area.
Personnel from the Social Work Unit of the Prosecutor’s Office—specifically psychologists from the Human Rights Prosecutor’s Office—are always deployed, primarily to provide assistance.
In this instance, they first spotted several pickup trucks carrying armed individuals; when they attempted to approach and apprehend them, a shootout ensued. The subjects fled toward the Zacatecas side of the region, using dirt roads to retreat into the hills.
It was at this point that our officers came under attack from explosive devices—specifically ground-to-air munitions—launched from drones. Our officers are trained in tactical first aid and carry full medical kits equipped with supplies for controlling severe hemorrhaging caused by gunshot wounds.
In fact, it was the police officers who administered the initial care; they applied a tactical tourniquet to their female colleague’s leg, and she was transported to the Colotlán base, from where we subsequently transferred her to the metropolitan area aboard the *Titán* aircraft.
