Coco Chanel is the new, highly destructive Colombian drug that has arrived in Mexico, and its distribution is allegedly linked to the murder of Colombian musicians Bayron King and Regio Clown on September 17th. Experts say it’s not actually a new substance, but rather a mixture of synthetic methamphetamines, similar to Tusi or pink cocaine—all marketing.
Erich Saumeth: This drug will dominate with a new name and suddenly appear in different forms, with variations in color, flavor, and so on.
Drug traffickers promote its use as a status symbol, although its exact price is unknown. Investigators estimate that each gram costs between four and six thousand pesos in Mexico and between one hundred and two hundred dollars in Colombia.
David Sauceda: It’s being sold in some elite business, circles and among the entertainment industry.
The production and sale of this drug began just this year in Colombia, where it became fashionable exclusively through marketing.
Erich Saumeth: You need to change your model, that is, attract the attention of your potential customers, your clientele.
Its effects are similar to those of pink cocaine. A long-lasting hallucinogenic effect, increased heart rate, extreme energy, and it is highly addictive. Currently, we have information that only one cartel distributes it in Mexico by agreement with its Colombian partners.
David Sauceda: The Sinaloa Cartel is the main criminal organization that we know has been distributing this drug.
