Through a series of narcomantas displayed in Guanajuato, criminal groups operating in the state were called upon to join the open fight against the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). This criminal organization has a presence in more than half of Mexican territory.
Preliminary reports indicate that in at least three points of the municipality of Irapuato, black banners were found bearing the initials “CDS”, referencing the Sinaloa Cartel, which is currently engaged in a bloody dispute with the CJNG.
In the messages, a call was made to local gangs to “clean up” the state from the presence of the “Four Letters Cartel”, as the organization led by Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, also known as ‘El Mencho’, is also called.
“This statement is addressed to all independent groups in the state and the government in general. The fight is not with the government. We reiterate it is against the filthy ones from the CJNG (sic),” reads the beginning of the narcomanta.

In that sense, they invited them to join forces and expel the CJNG from Guanajuato. “They are already on their way out of the state, so we call on all independent groups to not back down in the fight against those dirty kidnappers from the CJNG,” it was indicated.
“We remind you that here, there is no fear. We are all simply fighting against the same enemy, the CJNG (…) The objective is to restore peace to Irapuato and all of Guanajuato,” reads the final part of the message.
The tarp was marked with the following legend: “Atte: The MB C-D-S”. Although the letters “CDS” refer to the Sinaloa Cartel, the letters “MB” are often associated with another criminal organization: the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel (CSRL), which signs its messages with this inscription, whose meaning is “pure badass.”
Although unofficially, it was revealed that alleged members of the CSRL pretended to be members of the Sinaloa Cartel to sign narco messages and make a call to combat the CJNG, this last part has not been confirmed.

According to the latest report by AC Consultores on organized crime in Mexico, Guanajuato is one of the states where the Sinaloa Cartel does not operate, as the CJNG and the CSRL control the territory.
However, in November of last year, the commander of the XVI Military Zone, Enrique García Jaramillo, confirmed the presence of the Sinaloa Cartel in Guanajuato.
“We have the three most important ones: the Jalisco Cartel, Santa Rosa, and Sinaloa. And others of smaller size,” Jaramillo pointed out during a drug incineration ceremony that took place at the Military Field of the Eighth Armored Regiment in Irapuato.
