(Culiacán, Sinaloa)—On December 3, surveillance footage captured the precise moment violence struck a boutique known as Dispensario. What unfolded inside was a calculated attack by gunmen tied to Ismael Zambada Sicairos, alias “Mayito Flaco,” a faction leader of the Sinaloa Cartel.
The video begins as the gunmen burst into the store on Avenida Patria. They move with purpose, rifles raised. One approaches 17-year-old Jesús Eduardo, firing at close range. He falls instantly, crumpling near a display case.
The footage then shifts focus to the back of the boutique, where 14-year-old Natalia is frozen in place. She has no chance to escape. The attackers proceeded to loot the store, tossing items into bags before dousing the area with accelerant. Within seconds, flames erupt, consuming everything in their path.
One of the gunmen is caught too close to the blaze. His clothes ignite, and he is seen stumbling and writhing as the fire engulfs him. He escapes in a panic, flames trailing his body. Natalia, however, is left trapped. The roaring fire drowns out her desperate cries.
By the time emergency services arrived, Dispensario was reduced to ash. Jesús was dead, and Natalia had suffered burns covering 80% of her body. She remains in critical condition at the Pediatric Hospital of Sinaloa.

A Violent Message
This attack wasn’t about robbery or personal vendettas—it was a public spectacle meant to terrorize. The Dispensario attack is just one in a series of violent acts linked to “Mayito Flaco” and his faction of the Sinaloa Cartel.
While Jesús and Natalia were not direct targets, their deaths were part of a larger message: no one is beyond the cartel’s reach.
Culiacán has long been a battleground for cartel violence, but even here, the brazenness of burning a store with a child inside has sent shockwaves through the city.
Mica’s Analysis: Theatrics of Fear
This wasn’t just a murder—it was theater. The cartels know that terror is their most effective weapon. Killing Jesús was precise and methodical. Setting the boutique on fire after robbing it, knowing Natalia was inside, was deliberate. It wasn’t a mistake but a calculated move to send a message louder than any bullet.
The cartels aren’t just waging war on rivals; they’re dismantling the fabric of society itself. Each attack like this chips away at the city’s collective morale, leaving entire communities suffocated by fear. And yet, just days before, the same faction likely promised to “cleanse” the area, a hollow refrain echoed to justify their reign of terror.

This attack is anything but a good look for “Mayito Flaco’s” faction. Their so-called mission to bring order is undone by the reality of teenagers burned alive and storefronts reduced to ash. The irony is thick, but let’s not pretend the Chapitos don’t have people pulling the same grotesque stunts.
The propaganda machine spins on both sides. Each faction paints themselves as saviors of the people while their actions tell a different story—a story of unrelenting brutality that leaves no one safe and no place sacred.
For Natalia, survival is just the beginning of a long fight. Her life has been irrevocably altered, reduced to survival odds and painful recovery. For the people of Culiacán, this attack is another stark reminder of how deeply the cartels have embedded themselves into daily life.
The Aftermath
Today, Dispensario is a ruin. Its brightly colored Scooby-Doo murals—once playful and ironic—are now charred remnants of the fire. The cartoon characters, each depicted smoking joints, added a surreal, almost absurd touch to the boutique’s aesthetic—a counterculture image now burned into the memory of a brutal attack. The video footage offers a haunting glimpse into the events: the precision of the gunmen, the unrelenting fire, and the eerie backdrop of cartoon characters silently watching it all unfold.
This wasn’t just another violent act—it was a statement. And in Culiacán, that statement reverberates with terrifying clarity.
