CJNG Members Captured In El Oro; They Claim Responsibility For Extortion, Kidnapping And Drug Dealing

The events occurred on Tuesday morning, July 2, on a stretch of road in the Francisco I. Madero neighborhood.

In the municipality of El Oro, authorities detained five alleged members of a cell of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), which apparently operates in the northern region of the state of Mexico through extortion, kidnapping and drug dealing.

According to initial reports, the events occurred on Tuesday morning, July 2, on a stretch of road in the Francisco I. Madero neighborhood, when members of the Secretariat of Security of the State of Mexico (SSEM) spotted a white Jeep Patriot, which was being driven by several people carrying long weapons.

The uniformed officers activated protocols and approached the unit; when they caught up with them, they asked them to get out of the vehicle.

After a search they found and secured five firearms, four of them known as “cuerno de chivo” (AK-47) and one short weapon, as well as 25 magazines and 451 cartridges.

They also found four tactical vests with the initials “CJNG” and when they questioned the alleged criminals, they said they belonged to a cell of the criminal organization with origins in Jalisco, whose main activities are extortion, kidnapping and drug dealing.

The men identified themselves as Ernesto “N”, alias “El Muletas”, alleged leader of the cell; Mario Rodrigo “N”, alias “El Rigo”; Josué de Jesús; Miguel Ángel “N”, alias “El Chore” and Gustavo “N”, alias “El Rocky”, all of them from Jalisco.

After their arrest, they were presented to the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) so that investigations can be carried out, their probable criminal responsibility can be proven and their legal situation can be resolved.
