A Taxi Driver Carrying More Than 80 Kilograms Of Marijuana Was Arrested In Guadalajara.

In Guadalajara, Jalisco, a man driving a taxi was captured, as several kilograms of marijuana were found inside the vehicle by authorities. The Guadalajara Police stated that security agents could see that the driver was not following traffic signs while driving the taxi.

The events occurred in the vicinity of Calzada Lázaro Cárdenas and Colón, where members of the Gamas Squadron were patrolling with the support of the Army and National Guards. The officers stopped a man identified as Roberto “N”, 56 years old, who was driving a public transportation vehicle.

Although the authorities were present, the subject still attempted to escape but was eventually caught and detained. Upon searching the vehicle, the agents discovered several boxes containing roughly 80 kilograms of suspected marijuana.

During the inspection that led to the capture of Roberto “N,” the officers received support from a K-9 unit from the Wolves squadron. In the images shared by the authorities, it can be seen that the confiscated substance was wrapped in clear plastic bags, which were inside cardboard boxes.

According to local media reports, the driver’s insurance was carried out within the framework of Operation Puma. Authorities found a box on the roof and the rest of the boxes in the trunk. Although the 56-year-old man was handed over to the Public Ministry, TV Azteca reported that Roberto “N” claimed he was paid to transport the packages to the Bus Terminal and was not aware of the contents of the boxes.

In images circulating on social media, it can be seen that the unit belonged to Site 61. The Jalisco Police reported the driver’s arrest on Tuesday, April 16, and it is not yet known if the seized cargo in Guadalajara is related to any criminal group.

“With Operation Puma in coordination with the Secretariat of National Defense and the National Guard, we arrested a taxi driver and seized approximately 80 kilograms of alleged marijuana in the Las Torres neighborhood,” highlighted the Guadalajara Police on their Facebook account.”

In other recent events also involving the seizure of marijuana, more than one ton of illicit substances was seized in Chihuahua. The state prosecutor’s office reported the seizure of 110 packages of marijuana, as well as a dozen balls containing the same substance, which resulted in a total weight of 171 kilograms.

This assurance was carried out after security elements executed a search warrant at a residence located in the Minerales neighborhood. In addition, 29 kilograms of marijuana seeds and 470 fentanyl pills, weighing approximately 47 grams, were also seized.
