On November 26, 2025, the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) reported that two of its agents were being sought in Jalisco after the official vehicle they were traveling in was found abandoned, riddled with bullet holes and traces of blood, in the Colinas Virreyes neighborhood of Zapopan. The car, a late-model Nissan Versa with Mexico City license plates, was found running and parked in Parque Hundido Virreyes, at the intersection of Paseo Virreyes and Colina de los Virreyes.
The operational subdirector of the Zapopan Police Department, Gildardo Anaya García, explained that the report was received when a person exercising in the area noticed the vehicle running. Upon arriving at the scene, municipal officers confirmed that the vehicle had bullet holes, a spent shell casing, and bloodstains inside. “They are looking for the people who were supposedly in this vehicle,” Anaya García added regarding the situation of the two federal agents.
Agents from the National Intelligence Center (CNI) of the SSPC (Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection) later arrived at the scene and reported that the vehicle was used by their colleagues, as well as members of the National Guard (GN). The case was turned over to the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) after the Zapopan Police Department acted as first responders and turned the secured vehicle over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office. A pistol was found inside the car, and three ballistic vests were found in the trunk.
The SSPC stated in a press release that the two agents were conducting intelligence and field investigation work to dismantle criminal cells in Jalisco. According to the agency, “the events occurred yesterday when the agents were traveling toward the city of Guadalajara in an official vehicle and communication with them was lost.” The institution explained that the vehicle was located by following the route the officers had taken to the point where the abandoned vehicle was found.
The agency headed by Omar García Harfuch stated that it was maintaining constant communication with Jalisco authorities and working in coordination with the Ministry of National Defense (DEFENSA), the Ministry of the Navy (SEMAR), and the National Guard “in order to carry out all necessary actions to locate our colleagues, prioritizing their safety and security at all times.” The SSPC also indicated that it was in contact with the families of the missing officers and that it was searching for those responsible for the events.

This is the time. If they want to handle the cartel problem, show the world that the government is firmly under control, and send a message to the other cartels all at once, than Harfuch should concentrate 80% of their resources into eliminating CJNG and let the rest of the cartels know that if you attack federal security forces then you will pay a very expensive price.
