A narco message addressed to Baja California State Prosecutor María Elena Andrade was placed yesterday, Saturday, October 18th, on the pedestrian bridge of Benito Juárez Boulevard near the Plan Libertador neighborhood in the northern area of Rosarito Beach.
The message on the banner, signed with the initials of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, makes direct reference to the explosive drone attack that occurred against the anti-kidnapping unit in Playas de Tijuana on October 15th.
It is noted that the attack wasn’t related to Prosecutor María Elena Andrade Ramírez or Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, as had been speculated, but rather was a reprisal attributed to the rival La Mayiza group for a territorial dispute in the Ensenada and Rosarito regions.
A drone carrying explosives and metals intended to cause damage was directed at the parking lot where four vehicles were damaged. Authorities reported that no one was injured or killed in the incident. In the message, they hold the Arzate García brothers directly responsible for the drone and explosives attack on the facilities of the state prosecutor’s anti-kidnapping unit.
The drone attack was a retaliation by the Arzate García brothers. Don’t be intimidated, prosecutor. We are watching any deal you make with these scumbags. We don’t hide what we do. Sincerely, CJNG. The message also mentions that the retaliation is for combating extortion in the fishing sector in Ensenada.
Also, the loss of territory in Rosarito, which has them uncomfortable without their federal deputy, Aracely Brown. “Aquiles and Rana” are dying in Baja California, the message says.
Morena deputy Aracely Brown was recently singled out by the United States Treasury Department for her alleged ties to the Arzate brothers, supporting the criminal group with protection and a financial network, according to the United States government.
Regarding the narco message, state authorities haven’t issued an official statement on this discovery. Brothers Alfonso, aka El Aquiles, and René Arzate García, aka La Rana, both based in Tijuana, are identified by U.S. authorities as high-level operatives in the faction led by Mayo Zambada’s son.
The Arzate García brothers are known for being extremely violent and are also involved in tactical operations such as kidnappings and executions for the cartel. Both are fugitives, the U.S. government said.
